We Believe in Full Concrete Footings
One shortcut we see all too often is contractors trying to save money by using as little concrete as possible.
In our experience, it’s not uncommon to see fence posts installed with only one or two bags of concrete, leaving the hole only partially filled.
While every project is different, our preference is to fully concrete the footing to the top of the excavation wherever appropriate for the design, creating a solid foundation around the post rather than leaving voids that can fill with loose soil or water.
On many standard residential fencing projects, this commonly means using three to four bags of concrete per post, depending on the hole diameter and depth.
Concrete is one of the cheapest components of a fence, yet it plays one of the biggest roles in its long-term performance.

“You only get one chance to build the foundations properly. Saving a few dollars on concrete today can cost thousands in repairs years down the track.”
At Crawfords Fencing, we don’t believe in cutting corners below ground. We’d rather invest in stronger foundations from the start than leave our customers with a fence that begins to move years later
